Review: Hooked Cabarete

"Hooked Cabarete was created by and for surfers and kite surfers, and is known as a relaxed and beautiful place to stay. The small-scaled hotel with apartments is the closest accommodation to the wavespot and there are mostly surfers, kitesurfers or other active people staying here, which always gives a nice atmosphere. What most people like about Hooked is that it is an accommodation where it is quiet and relaxed and where you have a lot of space to hang out. You can relax or read a magazine in the lounge area or garden, chat with other people around the pool or take a nap in your hammock on your own private terrace."

Getting there:
Access is by plane into Puerto Plata (POP), Punta Cana, Santiago or Santa Domingo. If you are staying on the north cost than Puerto Plata is the easiest.

 

Apartments

The apartments are suited for 1, 2 or 3 persons and all have their own kitchen, bathroom, couch, covered terrace, there is a pool in the large, tropical garden and there is a free internet connection. Some of the apartments have the option for air-conditioning, others have a natural ventilation system and fan. Hooked Cabarete has apartments with single and double beds. Every morning you will receive fresh bread at your apartment.

Closest to the spot

Hooked is the closest accommodation to the surf wavespot in Cabarete: el Encuentro.

 

This is one of the most relaxed locations on the island. It is a beautiful beach where you don't see the negative sides of tourism yet. No crowds, friendly people and great waves for surfing and kite surfing. And of course a warm water and air temperature all year long. For wave surfers,

 

Encuentro is 'the place to be'. Almost every day, the waves are good, especially in the morning.

When the wind picks up in the afternoon, the place is also perfect for kiting. Kitesurfers that prefer to kite at more flat water at kite beach, can store their gear there for free in one of the Hooked lockers.

For those who would like to learn surfing or kite surfing, Hooked Cabarete works together with a professional surf school and kite surf school. The lessons are personal and the instructors are very motivated to make sure you learn surfing or kite surfing and you have a great time on the water.

Activities

Also if you don't surf or kite, you will have a wonderful time. Hooked organizes frequently activities like sushi nights, dinners in typical Dominican restaurants, surf trips and other trips to cities like Santiago, the waterfalls, into the mountains and off-road tours with ATV' s (quads). Also in and around Cabarete there is a lot to see and do. The owners of Hooked Cabarete are happy to give you tips about where to go and what to do. To be able to see more of the surrounding, Hooked gives you the opportunity to rent a motorbike/scooter with your apartment for a small amount. Not only ideal to move yourself in and outside the center of Cabarete, but also great to check out the beautiful nature of the Dominican Republic, to see how the Dominicans live or to go to the surrounding villages.
