Mmmmmmm......It is quite bemusing how a simple question "How are the ladies downunder?" can ellict so many vitriolic responses.
This brings me to the conclusion that there are a lot of insecure Australian males who would feel threatened by the presence of an American male on their territory.
John, if you want to see the kind of behaviour that was prevalent in the 1920's in the rest of the developed world, you must hasten to the Royal Exchange Pub in Brisbane.
The males huddle in large groups and the females are almost segregated until the males are sufficiently inebriated as to approach a chosen female and utter the words "Fancy a root?"

Digger, blaming John for everything bad that comes out of the US is like me blaming you for everything bad that comes out of Australia; Fosters and Speedos to name a couple.
It shows me that your mind is in turmoil and you are looking for a figure of blame because of some childhood trauma buried deep in your sub-conscience. Tell me about your mother....
It's not all bad that comes from the US. Where would we be without McDonalds? What would we eat?? Please don't treat John so bad....I think you should both meet up and be friends. There is too much vitriolic rhetoric gracing the pages of this forum. It must stop!

Apologies John, I hope you can appreciate the satire i used in an attempt to make light of the situation that so many people simply gave you a "stay in america" response.
I agree Siggy, far too much vitriolic rhetoric.
Although some let their effrontery rule and they overlook the jocose nature of the forum.

Communicating by the medium of the internet has confirmed my notion that the true emotional content of the writers message, on occasions, fails to be conveyed.
I would agree with you Digger that many are failing to see the ironic content in many of the responses posted in the name of comedy.
I myself missed the subtle use of satire in your previous posting and would like to take this opportunity to quote George W Bush in an attempt to to prove he too, utilises these literary mechanisms, and mocks the world in general with his simple yet effective witticisms.....
"They mis-underestimated me" he said with a big smile on his face.
