Surfing beginning of June« on: May 27 2007 06:05:00 »
I just returned from australia where i started surfing. since i didn't had that much time to practice down there , I am now planning to go to the netherlands somewhere around Wijk aan zee, north holland. Is it worth going there beg of june? How are the waves for beginners like me? Since I don't have any equiptment except from boardshorts, will that be available to rent? At what price?
Anyone heading off there as well around the 7th?

get a cheap flight (75 euro retourne)- Raynair and come to Portugal. It´s really great there on that time of the year. Cheap, warm and great waves... North Portugal, next to Porto there a duzends of empty beaches with great waves. Coming from ozland it´s probably the best place to go. If u need more info send me an email.
hope I could be any help.

Surf is not big there go to the Pier in (Wijk) aan zee, only one of the view spots to surf and you can rent everything there!
Surf in the center part or on the right cause thats where the beginners are, dont expect to much, surf is not big there but when the right waves are there it will be great fun!
Local surfer of the Wijk!

I saw this post while looking for the same question....surf in Netherlands? I'll be visiting with my wife in a week, coming from Florida. Surfed all my life, and hoped to catch a wave out there on this trip. Even a 2-3 foot day in "Holland" would make my trip. Will actually be in the noordwijk aan zee area. I lived in Groningen for 2 years in the 90's and went to the coast a few times with no luck of anything bigger than 2 inches. See you in the line-up!
