Bocas Del Toro very soon - experiences?« on: February 14 2008 17:02:00 »
I'm going to Bocas with my girlfriend in less than 2 weeks. We are staying right next to Bluff Beach and will be looking for surf. Can anyone who's been there tell me anything about their experience?

yeah a good loong left off one of the islands.....just ask at your local hotel on how to get out there or hit up one of the locals...they'll drop you out there on a little boat and come get you...its only a short trip from the main island

Thanks morgs. From what I understand there is surf all around the Bluff Beach area. Did you get a chance to check that out?

Weather was very average when i was there and only had 1-2 days of waves. I heard the same. Hook up with a local to show you round, am sure there is waves a plenty if you have someone to show you more.

Let's see: malaria, dengue fever, cholera, shistosomiasis, candida, hookworm, CIA base (human experimentation on Mosquto Indians) at Azul Bay, chiggers, no-see-um's, botflies (maggots emerge from skin)...and only rare swells with unforgiving staph-infecting coral. Have fun!

and those little maggots are very high in protien,if they emerge while you're surfing they make a convienent snack without having to paddle in.

Jesus H- mis-spelling protien!!! I thought you got rid of Oz and Tom; there the truly sub-epidermal maggots! Bocas is not worth the risk; it's only on the ego-trippers 'to-do' list.
