Hi, I stayed at that hostel 3 weeks ago. I got only one thing to tell you:
*DON'T GO THERE!!!*
It's awful and dangerous.
I wanted to spend 2 nights there with a friend. After the first night, we decided to leave so we told the guy and asked him to give us our deposit money back. He was pissed that we didn't want to stay, argued with the money and finally wanted to fight with us!!!!!!!
He was calling some friends of him living in the houses nearby to come and fight against us!!!!
This is a true story, if you want to be safe, DO NOT GO THERE!

My advice is stay away. No lockers, you will wake up at 4 in the morning with someone going through your stuff. Also, they don't ask for an ID or passport number, so it is a very good place for criminals to stay hidden. Watch out.

Woop!! Most awesome hostel in Mexico!!! Had an absolutely amazing time. Great managers. Fights? What? Haha NO WAY!. And...ps.. there are lockers. Great chill spot in back. Always fridge and cooking space. Extremely friendly, helpful, and honest people. Best Trip Ever!! GO AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!

I don't know if it's super dangerous but we stayed there only one night simply because it wasn't clean man. the beds were gross and smelled like mold. there's a hostel room at casa amistad we ended up staying at that's super clean and safe but they only have like 4 beds. i think their site is www.hostalsayulita.com anyways, just walk in and check both places before you pay in advance. that goes for anything under $50night in MEX

there are 2 hostels in sayulita. the one they're talking about venado azul is not very clean but it is cheap. the other one is just hostelsayulita, used to be called casa amistad and is nice but they only have one hostel room with i think 4 beds. it's nice to see an honest review about sayulita as most of the forums are controlled by real estate people and never let people post bad xperiences...

For it's first year running, you gotta give it some slack. Yes maybe not all the beds are brand new and there are no lockers, but for paying only 180 pesos a night to stay in Sayulita, minutes from the bars and the beach, it's pretty prime. They do have a safe to store your passport and last I heard they have a new co-owner from the states that wants to get things working a bit better there.  Besides, if you're staying in Sayulita why would you be spending much time at the hostel, there are so many amazing things to do there!!
