Surf Locations Close to Jakarta Surfing Indonesia

Hey Guys,

I'm moving to Jakarta for work and was wondering if there are any Surf Locations that can be surfed on say a weekend that are close to Jakarta and would not be too expensive for the transport to get there??

Any local knowlege of breaks around Jakarts would be appreciated!!

the nearest surf spot to jakarta would be carita.
there r several beach u can surf there.
it's about 2 hours away from jakarta.
but don't expect waves like bali has.
or.. u could go to pelabuhan ratu.
the waves are more vary than carita.

hi,

u could check for cimaja, there're many points there.
just go for bogor from jakarta (about 40 mins) and choose
a medium bus to pelabuhan ratu (about 3-3.5 hours), then head down to cimaja for about 15 mins.

Did you move to Jakarta yet? I moved here from the bay area nad don't know anyone else who surfs. Give me a holler if you wanna surf to pelabuhan ratu or Cimaja.

yeah cimaja is the nearest beach from jakarta and it has good wave. Around Cimaja you can find other beach who has nice wave for surfing, so lets go get there...cheers.

Attention those of you living in Jakarta and wanting to go surfing.

I am moving to jakarta from Canada in Jan 2010 to teach english.  I will be looking for surf spots to learn and excell at and hope other surfers on this site are interested in getting together.

Nearest place would be Pelabuhan Ratu area, second nearest would be Pangandaran area, but still, it's easier and faster to get to Bali by plane than drive to those 2 places. Thinking of going to Indo for awhile (Jan 2010) primarily to surf and learn about the culture. I teach over in Am. Samoa and thought I might be able to do the same in Indo. I'd like to live where I can surf daily. Any suggestions? Thanks, L
