Public Transportation« on: February 28 2008 06:02:00 »
I've heard that public transportation and taxis in Ghana can be tough in terms of space. Specifically, I've heard that the tro-tros can get so crowded that a backpackers pack won't fit.
I'll be in Accra doing some work for the summer, and I have no problem bringing my 6'6 with me, but will I be able to get it around once I get there. Renting a car isn't really an option for me.
Would I be better off trying to make it out to one of the resorts and renting or is it possible to move a shortboard around in Accra.

Although it might make travel slightly more difficult, people haul stuff that's equally, if not more, large and awkward than a shortboard (think giant bags of yams, baskets of chickens, etc). Especially if price is enough of a consideration that you can't rent a car, you'd probably be better off dealing with the minor inconvenience of traveling with your board than forking over the $$$ at the resorts.
