hey I´m from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. I´m moving to london on december and I can´t live without surfing!!
i´d like to know where could i go (places close to london) and how, wich kind of clothes should i buy and if i can go surfing usualy in england winter!
please help me!!

hi! i just moved here as well and i would love to go on a surfari. so to anyone else from london who is crazy enough to trek down south, east, west whatever and look for surf, let me know. maybe we can form a group and go wavehunting. i did that in the philippines all over luzon and i had the best time. even if sometimes it was flat. anyway, it would be nice to meet some stoked surfers... we can have our withdrawal symptoms together when we're stuck in london. :)

Wait for a south west or northwest or indeed just a westerly wind and head to Thanet. With the new road  you will arrive in approx 45 mins one hour and you will, if you look find everything you want.

london is hell on earth, its the most misserable expensive, uninspiring shithole ive ever seen, if i die and i got to hell i think i will be go to london as its my idea of hell, its WAY beyond me how so many people live there its such a shithole, the poepl suck, the weather sux, the traffic sux, the food sux its fukd, i saw a 1/2 foot grinder in the thames tho! was after a big boat. you wont be surfing man and if you try on the weekend theres shitloads of traffic you have to get to devon/cornwall but even then its pathetic how weak and shithouse the waves are, go to france it goes off, its like heaven next to  hell!

Surfing in North Devon can be very good and isn't too far from London the world's best city. Croyde's beach break and Downend Point is hollow for shortboards and the rest of the nearby beaches favour longboards. The conditions vary but my brother has a fast VW Van to get 5 surfers and all boards down there in 5 hours from London in as soon as the forecast looks good. We go every virtually every weekend when swell period and winds look good. Winter is best. You need a 4/3 wetsuit with boots and hood as minimum. I have a 6/4 just to make sure I NEVER get cold coz if you travel 10 hours round trip you don't want to get out of water shivering after a couple of hours!

yeah just read the post by hugh, 5 hrs drive to get to weak beach breaks! yeah sounds good in the fukn cold water, even when u try and make it sound good its sounds shit. for any surfers from aus/nz/usa etc england has very bad surf maybe a few times a year maybe ok, but overall is weak(due to the lack of sell and shallow continental shelf), as for london being great its dirty, full of diseased pigeons and is polluted and grey all the buildings are the same and they even class a house as 10 stuck together in montonous row, very small inside, london sux it rains a lot is cloudy its a hole.

I have to agree with the post on here except hughs, london stinks in everyway, if you go there just work your guts out and take the money and live it up in some good countrys with good waves, its a shame the words strongest currency is in such a fukn hole that is the ONLY reason i went there, and its easy to get work, if u love the ocean and surf london will drain your soul and you will soon forget what it means to feel conncted to the ocean, once you leave u realise u could never return not for all the money in the world, i agree iwth hell london is HELL if you are a surfer its hell if your a human being anyways i cant believe people like it there??
