Can anyone tell me what to expect if I pay a visit to Oz in mid to late October, surf condition-wise? Thinking about starting in Brisbane and making my way down to Sydney. Is this a good plan for that time of year? I'm not a kook and I won't be part of a big group of tourists littering the line up - I'm a Trestles girl who wants to enjoy some fun waves and cool people in the Southern Hemisphere. I'd love to hear some local knowledge...

I recon your best bet is to hit the Strabdroke Island beaches just out from Brisbane. Can be a little hassle geting there but well worth it. On the trip to Sydney there's Byron etc. but just north of Corindi Beach with is just north of Coffs Harbour is a great spot down a dirt road in a national park. Corindi is a good spot to chill out for a day too and you may score some waves at too.
On the way to Sydney there are places you can follow the coast down and catch a ferry accross to Port Macquarie for instance. Aloha
